Body Worn Cameras Simplify Stealth Operations

Backpacks, sunglasses, buttons and baseball caps, what do these items all have in common? They are just some of the things that body worn cameras are concealed in. Even cell phones, pagers, day planners, watches and pens can contain the new types of miniaturized surveillance cameras available for covert use. There is even a blue denim jacket with a concealed camera that is used by police departments and television stations.

Do you need to take hi quality digital photographs on the sly? One of the types of body worn cameras, that is a watch, can take up to 320 pictures and download those images straight into your PC. There are body worn cameras that look just like a pen, and that actually work if you need to write with it. These pens are wireless and come with an external transmitter that can be hidden in a pocket or bag. The wired versions of these pens can be plugged into a camcorder or micro VCR.

What if you just want a body worn camera on you to take quick pictures whether for fun or covert operations? There are body worn cameras that are smaller than a credit card and are actually used as key chains. They can also be used as a web cam.

Are you a smoker? With an imitation cigarette lighter that is actually a digital camera, you can take great pictures, simply and easily as these cameras feature automatic exposure. These little beauties can also be used as a PC camera.

Body Language Speaks Louder Than Words

Has it ever occurred to you how much you are saying to people even when you are not speaking? Unless you are a master of disguise, you are constantly sending messages about your true thoughts and feelings whether you are using words or not.

Studies show that your words account for only 7% of the messages you convey. The remaining 93% is non-verbal. 55% of communication is based on what people see and the other 38% is transmitted through tone of voice. So think about it. In the business setting, people can see what you are not saying. If your body language doesn't match your words, you are wasting your time.

Eye contact is the most obvious way you communicate. When you are looking at the other person, you show interest. When you fail to make eye contact, you give the impression that the other person is of no importance. Maintain eye contact about 60% of the time in order to look interested, but not aggressive.

Facial expression is another form of non-verbal communication. A smile sends a positive message and is appropriate in all but a life and death situation. Smiling adds warmth and an aura of confidence. Others will be more receptive if you remember to check your expression.

Your mouth gives clues, too, and not just when you are speaking. Mouth movements, such as pursing your lips or twisting them to one side, can indicate that you are thinking about what you are hearing or that you are holding something back.

The position of your head speaks to people. Keeping your head straight, which is not the same as keeping your head on straight, will make you appear self-assured and authoritative. People will take you seriously. Tilt your head to one side if you want to come across as friendly and open.

How receptive you are is suggested by where you place your arms. Arms crossed or folded over your chest say that you have shut other people out and have no interest in them or what they are saying. This position can also say, "I don't agree with you." You might just be cold, but unless you shiver at the same time, the person in front of you may get the wrong message.

How you use your arms can help or hurt your image as well. Waving them about may show enthusiasm to some, but others see this gesture as one of uncertainty and immaturity. The best place for your arms is by your side. You will look confident and relaxed. If this is hard for you, do what you always do when you want to get better at something - practice. After a while, it will feel natural.

The angle of your body gives an indication to others about what's going through your head. Leaning in says, "Tell me more." Leaning away signals you've heard enough. Adding a nod of your head is another way to affirm that you are listening.

Posture is just as important as your grandmother always said it was. Sit or stand erect if you want to be seen as alert and enthusiastic. When you slump in your chair or lean on the wall, you look tired. No one wants to do business with someone who has no energy.

Control your hands by paying attention to where they are. In the business world, particularly when you deal with people from other cultures, your hands need to be seen. That would mean you should keep them out of your pockets and you should resist the urge to put them under the table or behind your back. Having your hands anywhere above the neck, fidgeting with your hair or rubbing your face, is unprofessional.

Legs talk, too. A lot of movement indicates nervousness. How and where you cross them tells others how you feel. The preferred positions for the polished professional are feet flat on the floor or legs crossed at the ankles. The least professional and most offensive position is resting one leg or ankle on top of your other knee. Some people call this the "Figure Four." It can make you look arrogant.

The distance you keep from others is crucial if you want to establish good rapport. Standing too close or "in someone's face" will mark you as pushy. Positioning yourself too far away will make you seem standoffish. Neither is what you want so find the happy medium. Most importantly, do what makes the other person feel comfortable. If the person with whom you are speaking keeps backing away from you, stop. Either that person needs space or you need a breath mint.

You may not be aware of what you are saying with your body, but others will get the message. Make sure it's the one you want to send.

Blowers

MECHANICAL VACUUM BOOSTERS:-

Mechanical Vacuum Boosters are dry pumps that meet most of the ideal vacuum pump requirements. They work on positive displacement principle and are used to boost the performance of water ring /oil ring /rotating vane /piston pumps and steam or water ejectors. They are used in combination with any one of the above mentioned pumps, to overcome their limitations. Vacuum booster pumps offer very desirable characteristics which make them the most cost effective and power efficient option.

The major advantages are:-

(a) Can be integrated with any installed vacuum system such as Steam Ejectors, Water Ring Pumps, Oil Sealed Pumps, Water Ejectors, etc.

(b) The vacuum booster is a Dry Pump as it does not use any pumping fluid. It pumps vapor or gases with equal ease. Small amounts of condensed fluid can also be pumped.

(c) Vacuum boosters are power efficient. Very often a combination of Vacuum Booster and suitable backup pump results in reduced power consumption per unit of pumping speed. They provide high pumping speeds even at low pressures.

(d) Boosters increase the working vacuum of the process, in most cases very essential for process
performance and efficiency. Vacuum Booster can be used over a wide working pressure range,
from 100 Torr down to 0.001 Torr (mm of mercury), with suitable arrangement of backup pumps.

Everest ...................... Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005.

(e) It has very low pump friction losses, hence requires relatively low power for high volumetric
speeds. Typically, their speeds, at low vacuums are 20-30 times higher than corresponding vane
pumps / ring pumps of equivalent power.

(f) Use of electronic control devices such as Variable Frequency Control Drive allow to modify
vacuum boosters operating characteristics to conform to the operational requirements of the prime
vacuum pumps. Hence they can be easily integrated into all existing pumping set up to boost their
performance.

(g) Vacuum boosters don't have any valves, rings, stuffing box etc., therefore, do not demand regular maintenance.

(h) Due to vapor compression action by the booster, the pressure at the discharge of booster (or inlet of backup pump) is maintained high, resulting in advantages such as low back streaming of prime pump fluid, effective condensation even at higher condenser temperatures and improvement of the backup pump efficiency.

The Table below gives a rough estimate of how the boosters enhance the working vacuums of the processes when installed in combination with various types of industrial vacuum pumps currently used in the industry. They can effectively replace multistage steam ejectors, resulting in considerable steam savings and reduced loads on cooling towers. Mechanical Vacuum Boosters are versatile machines and their characteristics depend largely on backing pump. Various types of backing pump can be used, depending upon the system requirement and ultimate vacuum needs.
However, the final vacuum is governed by the suitable selection of the backing pump and booster
arrangement. The table below gives a broad range of vacuum achieved with various backing pumps combinations.

Vacuum Pump Expected vacuum Vacuum on installation Range of Booster (single stage)
Single Stage Ejector 150 Torr 15 - 30 Torr
Water Ejector 100 Torr 10 - 20 Torr
Water Ring Pump 40 - 60 Torr 5 - 10 Torr
Liquid Ring Pump 20 - 30 Torr 2 - 5 Torr
Piston Pumps 20 - 30 Torr 2 - 5 Torr
Rotary Piston Pumps 0.1 Torr 0.01 Torr
Rotary Vane Oil Pump 0.01 - 0.001 Torr 0.001 - 0.0001 Torr.
Everest ................ Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005.

For example, if a process is using water ring Pump, the estimated working vacuums would be of the order of about 670-710 mmHg gauge (90-50 mmHg abs.), largely depending on the water temperature and pump design. When a Booster is installed prior to the water ring pump, in series, the vacuum levels of the order of 5-10 Torr can be easily achieved. In a Multi-Stage booster installation, vacuum levels of the order of 0.5 Torr & better can easily be expected. Mechanical Boosters offer a completely dry pumping solution and do not add to any vapor load, unlike steam ejectors, and therefore, do not require large inter stage condenses. At low vacuums, higher pumping speeds are required to maintain the through-put, since the specific volume increases with the increase in vacuum. Vacuum boosters enhance the pumping speeds by about 3-10 times depending upon the selection by virtue of which one can expect higher process rates and through-puts. The drawbacks of steam ejector system such as sensitivity to motive fluid pressures and discharge pressure are overcome easily by the Mechanical Boosters, since the volumetric displacements/pumping speeds are insensitive to the inlet & outlet working pressures.

Typical Booster Installation
(1) Evaporator (2) Gauge (3) Condenser (4) Mechanical Booster
(5) backup Pump

Everest ................. Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005.

Calculating the Pump Capacity: -
Based on the fundamental gas laws PV= RT, an expression can be derived for Volumetric Flow Rates required for pumping different vapors/gases. Based on the Mass flow rates one can estimate the pump capacity required.

V = R . Tgas / P Q1/M1 + Q2/M2 ............. Qn/Mn
Where V = Inlet Volume flow rate m3/hr.
R = Universal gas Constant, 83.14 mbar m3/ Kgmol x ºK
Tgas = Gas/Vapor abs. Temp, in ºK
P = Process Absolute Pressure in mbar
Q1, Q2, Q3 = Gas / Vapor flow rate, in Kg/hr.
M1 , M2 ,M3 = Molar mass, in Kg/mol. of gas /vapor.

Booster Operation:
Power Constraints restrict the total differential pressures across the booster. This demands to ensure the total differential pressure across the Booster must not exceed the rated limits. This can be ensured by any of the following means:-

1.) Manual method:- Initially the fore pump is switched on until the required cut in pressure is achieved and there-after the booster is switched on.
2.) Auto method:- Installation of mechanical By-pass arrangement across the booster or hydro kinematic drive or Variable Frequency Drive (VFD). In this arrangement, the booster and fore pump can be started simultaneously from atmosphere.

Advantages of using Electronic Variable Speed Control Device
Electronic A.C Variable Frequency Control Drives are most preferred devices used to regulate the
Booster speed to match the varying load conditions of the process. These drives enhance the overall performance of the Boosters and offer various advantages for the trouble free operation.

The major advantages are: -
1. Booster can be started directly from atmosphere.
Everest ................... Leaders in Vacuum Booster Technology
Boosters for Vacuum Process © Everest Transmission January, 2005.
2. No need for separate pressure switch, by pass line or offloading valves.
3. Considerable savings in power.
4. Prevents over-heating of Boosters.
5. Protects the Booster against overload and excessive pressures.
6. Offers complete protection to motor against over voltage, under voltage, over current,
Over-heating, ground fault.
7. Eliminates the needs of separate starter and overload relays for the Motor.
8. Automatically adjusts the speed of Booster between low and high range set giving high
pumping speeds with relatively low input power.

The Electronic Variable Frequency Control Drive is a microprocessor based electronic drive which is specially programmed to meet the demands of the Booster allowing it to operate directly from atmosphere along with suitable fore pump. Conventionally, Boosters can be started only after achieving fore vacuum in the range of 30 - 100 Torr, as they are not recommended for direct discharge into the atmosphere. Use of Pressure Switch, Hydro kinematic drive and by pass valves is necessary to prevent the overloading of the Booster. However with the installation of Electronic Variable Frequency Control Drive all the conventional methods can be bypassed since the drive is programmed to regulate the Booster speed automatically, keeping the load on motor within permissible limits. This allows the Booster to start simultaneously with backup pump. When the backup-pump and Booster are started the drive reduces the Booster speed to the pre-set levels and as the vacuum is created the Booster speed picks up, reaching the final pre-set speed, giving most optimum performance over the entire range. Since all the parameters are easily programmable, one can adjust the booster pumping speeds to match the system requirements easily and quickly. The drive limits the current to the motor and safeguards the motor against over voltage, under voltage, electronic thermal, overheat ground faults. i.e. protects the motor against all possible faults.
External computer control over all aspects of booster performance is possible via RS485 serial interface built into the drive electronics. This enables the Booster to be integrated into any computer-controlled operating system.

Blast Your Way Out Of A Slump With 4 Simple Tactics

Every business goes through a “slump.” Hey, you’ve been raking in the bucks when... blam, you’re up against a brick wall. The customers seem to have forgotten you exist, and the bills pile up. Don’t despair... you’re not alone.

I know that doesn’t fix one thing for you right now, but find comfort in the fact that slumps don’t last forever. Most businesses make it through, and with these 4 sure-fired “slump blasters,” you’ll make it too.

Why?
Some slumps are to be expected. Seasonal workers expect to have some down time during the “off season” months. Other slumps sneak up when you are doing your darnedest to market and implement every up-to-date marketing strategy in the book. Could it be that...

* A recent change in your advertising campaign has gone sour?

* A savvy competitor has “one up” on you?

* Major news is affecting the entire industry?

Once you’ve properly identified the cause, you can develop a counter strategy to boost yourself back into the black.

What If There’s No Obvious Cause?
When there is no apparent reason or catalyst, you can safely identify it as a normal business slump. Let’s face it... you’ve hit a normal business slump. You need to put these 4 tactics into action.

1. Develop a special deal for your existing clientele. Make it short. Make it quick... put a deadline on the offer. Let them know as cheaply as possible that you’ve got a deal they can’t pass up... if they hurry! Get them into action.

2. Let your prospective customers in on the secret. Get them hustling to get in on the deal, before it’s too late.

3. Call your trusted, long-time customers and let them know you need their help. Ask them for referrals, and remember to reward their effort. They’ll feel like heroes and will bask in your appreciation.

4. Temporarily blitz “quick” advertising media with your deal. Get the information out quickly, and you’ll start seeing results quickly.

Sometimes a little quick action is all it takes to boost things back into their perspectives. Hurry! Get your customers moving!

Blackjack Strategy Tips: How to Win in Blackjack

Blackjack is one of the few casino games that are beatable in the long run. It means that by using a basic blackjack strategy you can have an advantage over the casino and eventually step away from the blackjack table as a winner. Here you can find the basic blackjack strategy explained in a simplified manner.

The blackjack strategy is based on the mathematical probabilities of the game and it provides you guidance on the best decisions to make at every possible situation during the game. It takes about an hour to memorize this strategy but it is worth every minute. This does not man you will win every single blackjack game from now on, but with the help of the blackjack strategy, patience and persistence, you can significantly improve your chances of beating the casino in the long run.

Note that some blackjack rules vary from one casino to another. In some casinos, both brick and mortar and internet casinos, blackjack is played with one card deck while in others the blackjack game occupies four decks or more. In addition, in some of the casinos the dealer hits on a soft 17 while in others he is required to stand and doubling after splitting is allowed only in some of the casinos.

Here you can find a basic strategy to a single deck blackjack game where the dealer hits on soft 17. Playing other blackjack variants would require you to make some adjustments for a few borderline occurrences.

First, here is a short introduction to the terms mentioned here:
Hard Hand: two initial cards that do not include an Ace.
Soft Hand: two initial cards that one of them is an Ace
Stand: when a player is not asking to be dealt more cards after the two initial cards.
Hit: when a player calls for an additional card to be dealt
Double: when a player doubles his initial bet after the initial deal, but it requires him to hit only one card.
Split: when a player separates the initial two cards into two individual hands and plays them as 2 hands.

Finally, here is a basic blackjack strategy:
When your initial two card hand sums up to 8 or less: hit
When your hand sums up to 9 and the dealer hand value is between 3 and 6: double if else: hit when your hand sums up to 10 and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 9: double; if else:
When your hand sums up to 11 and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 10: double; if else hit.
When your hand sums up to 13, 14, 15, or 16 and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 6: stand; if else hit.
When your hand sums up to 17: stand.
when your initial two card hand contains Ace 2 or Ace 3 and the dealer has either 5 or 6: double; if else: hit.
When your hand contains Ace 4 or Ace 5 and the dealer has 4, 5 or 6: double; if else: hit.
When your hand contains Ace 6 and the dealer has 3, 4, 5 or 6: double; if else: hit.
When your hand contains Ace 7 and the dealer has 2, 7 or 8: stand; if he has 3, 4, 5 or 6: double; if else: hit.
When your hand contains Ace 8 or Ace 9: stand
When your hand contains a pair of 2s or 3s and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 7: split; if else: hit
When your hand contains a pair of 4s and the dealer has either 4 or 5: split; if else: hit
When your hand contains a pair of 5s and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 9: double; if else: hit
When your hand contains a pair of 6s and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 6: split; if else: hit
When your hand contains a pair of 7s and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 7: split; if else: hit
When your hand contains a pair of 8s: split
When your hand contains a pair of 9s and the dealer hand value is between 2 and 7 and either 8 or 9: split; if else: stand
When your hand contains a pair of 10s: stand
When your hand contains a pair of 8s: split

Blackjack: Learn How to Become a Champion

Learn How to Play and Win Blackjack after practicing some basic steps that can be learn easily. Blackjack is one of the more easier card games that you will come across, and its basic concept is simple: get 21 as the sum of your cards or get as close to 21 but higher than the sum of your opponent's cards.

1) Do not try and reach 21.
Yes. Even though blackjack is also commonly called 21, trying to reach 21 with every hand is an amateurish move. You will, most certainly, lose the hand. Statistical research conducted has shown that the odds of reaching 21 is lesser than the odds of getting more than 21.

2) Try and Beat the Dealer.
Since blackjack is a one on one battle: you versus the dealer, focus on beating the dealer. Instead of trying to get 21, try to guess what hand the dealer will receive and accordingly play your hand. Remember that the dealer at a regular casino or even at an online casino has to stop taking more cards if the cards on the table add up to 17. But if their cards add up to 16 or any number less, they will have to take another card.

3) Look at the dealer's card facing up.
The only way to play is to look at the dealer's card facing up. If it is a low card like a two or anything up to a 6 or 7, try and get a high number combination. If it’s a 9 or 10, the odds are high that he has a 10 underneath or at least he will be forced to take another card. So, reach anything up to 20 or 21, but its better to even stop at a 18 or 19 and hope they will over-run the sum of 21.

How Blackjack is Played at a Casino:
1) Place your bet on the table.
Each blackjack table has a set beginning bet and this ranges from a dollar to ten or twenty for the high-rollers crowd. This is the amount of chips you will have to put down, and this signals to the dealer that you are taking part in the next round.

2) You will get a card.
The dealer then deals a card to you and all the other players who have also placed a bet down.

3) The dealer places a face-up card in front.
This is one of the cards of the dealer, and since its facing up, all the players have a chance to judge the outcome of his cards.

4) The dealer deals the second card.
The dealer, then, deals you and all the players an additional card. This is the time to have a look at them and at the dealer's card and decide whether you wish to get another card.

5) The dealer asks.
The dealer now turns to each player and asks them if they wish to receive another card. If you wish it, the dealer will give you a card. Then, the dealer will ask you again. Note that the dealer will be with you until you decide that you do not want to receive any more cards. Then, the dealer moves on to the next player, then, the next, and so on.

6) The dealer starts playing.
Only when all the players have said that they do not want any more cards, does the dealer start playing. He takes cards until he has reached 17 or above. Then, he has to stop.

7) The dealer opens the cards.
When he's done, the dealer first reveals all his cards. Then, he moves from one player to the other opening their cards. After revealing each player's hands, the dealer pays out the bet or takes the bet away according to who has won and who has lost.

BIO-FUEL CROPS PRODUCING BIO-DIESEL

The company now boasts 22 employees,
including scientists, farmers, international
businessmen, industrial workers and of course
family.

GreenEnergy`s corporate mission aims
to bring large tracts of rural land under
scientific but basic cultivation of bio-fuel
feedstocks, bringing with it employment and
entrepreneurial opportunities to potentially
thousands of Vietnamese rural poor, while
providing inputs for GreenEnergy`s core
business, the refining and marketing of bio-
diesel.

It is a win, win situation for everyone because
not only does cultivation of this vegetable oil
require only marginally arable, war damaged
or barren land, this also means its activities
do not compete with other food production
which avoids putting upward pressure on
food prices.

N.B (Vietnamese Government has identified
seven million hectares as marginal, barren or
war damaged land).

In addition GreenEnergy`s operations achieve
a renewable and sustainable fuel source for
Vietnam to continue its development with all the
attendant social, economic and environmental
benefits in producing clean energy.

Because of the scale and potential of the bio-
diesel industry in Vietnam and indeed globally,
where tens of millions of bio-fuel crops will
have to be grown to substantially replace fossil
fuels, a ‘second green revolution’ is possible,
bringing with it true improvement in the lives
of the rural poor and vegetable oils can play a
significant role in helping to ameliorate global
warming as a key aspect of climate change.

Global warming, a key aspect of climate
change, now clearly recognized as a result of
a concentration of greenhouse gases (GHGs)
in the atmosphere - has the worst impact on
the climate.

Carbon dioxide, the most common of GHGs, is
emitted during the burning of fossil fuels.

The Kyoto Protocol gazetted in February 2005
requires participating countries to cut carbon
emissions.

Further to this, rising crude oil prices and the
need to reduce dependence on imported oil has
made it necessary for net oil importers to think
of alternative energy sources. The precarious
situation with fossil fuel supplies coupled
with the ability of bio-fuels to lessen that risk,
makes it feasible for the global economy to
revert its focus towards agriculture and those
traditionally engaged in it, thus offering a
potential boon to Vietnam’s rural sector.

Full bio-diesel use would reduce net CO2 by
over 78% compared to petroleum diesel and up
to 16% with the use of blends comprising 20%
bio-diesel.

While both fuels are almost equally efficient
at converting raw energy resources into
fuels, bio-diesel has a larger part that is
renewable .Similarly, bio-diesel is non-toxic
and environmentally friendly as it produces
substantially less CO2, ensuring sustainable
environmental practices.

GreenEnergy has recognized this mammoth
task and has adopted a dual strategy for
attaining its goals in Vietnam.

1.Public – Aggressive initiatives to “jump-
start” the production side of bio-fuel feedstocks
by forming a partnership with Vietnams Central
Government and People’s Committees as well
as aid agencies to help put large tracts of
marginal land under bio-fuel crop cultivation
quickly.

A memorandum of understanding and support
was signed by the Peoples Committee of Binh
Dinh Province and Green Energy Vietnam on
the 8th of December 2006 and the 500 hectare
Binh Dinh Research and Training Facility
for the Cultivation of Biofuel Feedstocks has
been established, known as BDF- FARMER
ENERGY- a working laboratory devoted to
developing the bio-fuel industry for the benefit
of Vietnamese rural poor.

2.Private – Includes GEV investments to retain
its ‘First Mover’ advantage by securing its
proprietary feedstocks, expanding its physical
plant refinery presence and continuing to build
its integrated supply-chain, complete with
forward contracted suppliers and customers.

It is in this first arena, Public Initiatives,
that GreenEnergy sees co-operation with aid
agencies.

Some of the substantial and sustainable
benefits that the cultivation of bio-fuels crops
can contribute to Vietnam are:

1. Real cash growth, raising the annual income
of $820 to $1,300 U.S. for thousands of
marginalized rural families.

2. Private homesteading for the rural poor.

3. Stress relief and barren or war damaged land
reclamation.

4. Enfranchisement of poor, rural women.

5. Retention of scarce foreign currency
reserves and

6. Independence from the uncertainties of
global mineral oil markets.

The People`s Committee of the Province of
Binh Dinh and GreenEnergy, Vietnam, in
full realization of the enormous impact this
Research and Training Facility will have for
all of Vietnam`s rural communities, cordially
invites any and all organizations seeking
positive change in the livelihood of rural
Vietnamese to form an active Partnership in
the development of this Research and Training
Facility.

The Binh Dinh Facility wants to be a catalyst in
harnessing this opportunity for all stakeholders
and delivering:

. A path for the rural poor to climb out of their
deprivation rather than fall further behind.

. A renewable, sustainable and viable alternative
to fossil fuel for Vietnam’s surging economy.
and an industry that rejuvenates, rather than
degrades the environment.

Introduction to the oil plant Jatropha.

The oil plant Jatrophas curcas (L) (Jatropha)
or physic nut, is multipurpose and drought
resistant, growing to a height range of 2 to 7
metres for the Asian species and it not only
flourishes in tropical and sub-tropical climate
zones but even in areas absent of water.

Because its leaves and stems are toxic to
animals it is often used as a protective hedge
around farm houses, gardens and fields.

It also reduces soil damage caused by erosion
from wind and water and traditionally the
seeds were harvested by women for medical
treatments and local soap production.

In Thailand, Jatropha normally flowers twice
a year, in dry and rainy seasons with seed
harvesting conducted approximately 60-90
days after flowering and the oil plant has a
productive life of 20 years.

Because the market is probably not yet mature
enough for the plant to generate enough
income solely from oil extraction, a holistic
rural development approach has to be taken
into account in order to exploit all potential
uses of the Jatropha plant. This approach is
known as the Jatropha System.

The system focuses not only on the use of
the source as a fuel, but rather as an element,
to activate a system combining ecologic,
economic and income generating activities.

Consequently, the Jatropha System offers four
main aspects of development aiming to better
the livelihoods in rural areas, especially for
women and farmers:

. Renewable energy- bio-diesel

. Erosion control and soil improvement

. Promotion of women and

. Income generation.

About one-third of seeds can be extracted as
oil that has a similar energy value to diesel
fuel. The oil is extracted by hydraulic pressure
and then filtered through an intensive sleeve
that can then be readily used without any
complicated refinery process, directly available
for small diesel engines as a substitution for
diesel oil, without engine modification.

This oil can power engines, such as water
pumps, tractors, hand mowers, other farm
machinery and rice milling machines and
by using this domestically produced oil as a
substitution for imported oil, significant cash
savings can be made.

GreenEnergy Ltd have already committed
a considerable amount of time, money and
resources to this environmentally sound an
economically sustainable project in Vietnam
and welcome further input from other interested
parties.

It is also their belief that at an international level,
stakeholders involved should perform a three
pronged approach, with mutual knowledge,
technology transfer, genetic development of
high oil content in the seeds and exchange of
Jatropha species, together with investment
and trade linkage.

Bingo History: Story of the Game Bingo

The origins of contemporary bingo go back to 16th century Italy, where the lottery game Lo Giuoco del Lotto dItalia was introduced. The popular chance game was introduced to North America in the late 1920s by the name of Beano. A toy salesperson of New York was responsible for changing the name of the game into Bingo and to the increase of its popularity throughout the US.

In the late 18th century, the original Italian lotto game made its way to France. Historical evidence shows that a game called Le Lotto was popular among the French high society who used to play the game in parties and social gatherings.

Le Lotto used to be played with special cards that were divided into three rows and nine columns. Each of the three columns consists of 10 numbers, while each column had five random number and four blank spaces in it. Each player had a different lotto card where he used to mark the number announced by the caller. The first player to cover one row won the game.

By the 19th century, the lotto game spread around Europe and started to serve as a didactic childrens game. In the 1850s, several educational lotto games had entered the German toys market. The lotto games purpose was to teach children how to spell words, how to multiply numbers, etc.

By 1920s, a similar version to the lotto game, known as beano was popular at county fairs throughout the US. In beano, the players placed beans on their cards to mark the called out number. The first player who completed a full row on his card, used to yell out Beano!, until one night in December 1929, when a New Yorker toys salesperson by the name of Edwin S. Lowe visited a country fair outside Jacksonville, Georgia.

On his way back to New York, Lowe had purchased beano equipment including dried beans, a rubber numbering stamp and cardboard. At his New York home, Lowe has been hosting friendly beano games. During one game, one excited winner who had managed to complete a full row stuttered out Bingo, instead of Beano. Listening to the excited stuttering girl, Edwin S. Lowe thoughts went away. Lowe decided to develop a new game that would be called Bingo.

While Lowe’s Bingo game was making its first steps in the market, a Pennsylvanian priest asked Lowe to use the game for charity purpose. After a short tryout period, the priest had found out that the bingo game causes the churches to lose money. Since the variety of bingo cards was limited, each bingo game ended up in more than five winners.

In order to develop the game and to lower the probabilities of winning, Lowe approached Prof. Carl Leffler, a mathematician from Columbia University. Leffler was asked to create bigger variety of bingo cards that each of them will have unique combination of numbers. By 1930, Lowe had 6,000 bingo cards and Prof. Leffler went insane.

Since then, the popularity of the bingo game as a fundraiser continued to grow. In less than five years, about 10,000 weekly bingo games took place throughout North America. Lowe’s company grew to employ several thousands of employees and to occupy more than 60 presses 24 hours a day.

Now, bingo is one of the most popular chance games in the world. It is played in churches, schools, local bingo halls and land based casinos in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and other parts of the world.

Billing Tips for the New Expert Witness

How much should I charge for my expert witness services? It’s an important question that will determine the success of your consulting practice.

You can establish competitive pricing levels in several ways. One way is to discretely conduct some research to find out what other experts are charging. Another way is to review pertinent court records, since experts have to disclose their rates as part of their Rule 26 or equivalent reports.

SEAK publishes a reference book that you might find useful in creating your rate structure. Ask for the “National Guide to Expert Witness Fees and Billing Procedures,” written by Alex Babitsky, MBA, Steven Babitsky, Esq., and James J. Mangraviti, Jr., Esq.

Now that you have a better sense of how to set your hourly rates, here are five tips to help you prepare a competitive rate card:

1. Get it in writing! Always start with a letter of engagement that clearly identifies your rates and business terms. You want to be entirely clear on how and when you will get paid.

2. Establish a minimum. Regardless of the job size, you have to set all your other work aside in order to concentrate on every new case. Consider setting a 5 or 10 hour minimum for smaller jobs. This policy will reimburse you for the value you provide to your client.

3. Ask for a retainer. You can insure payment by asking for a retainer that gets replenished as funds are drawn down over the course of your assignment.

4. Implement a cancellation fee. The vast majority of cases settle out of court, so you could easily find yourself with holes in your calendar where you once had billable hour commitments for depositions or court testimony. Your cancellation fee may vary with the degree of notice you receive. For example, perhaps there is no penalty for cancellation 10 days prior to an engagement, but a 50% fee for cancellation 48 hours in advance.

5. Review your rates. An annual rate increase is a fairly common business practice. Take a look at your rates every December and update your rate card as of January 1st of every year. As a rule of thumb, you generally have some room to increase your rates if none of your clients complains about them. Test higher rates on your new clients.

Always remember, you are paid for your knowledge and not your testimony. Price and bill accordingly.

Bill Acceptors in Planet Antares Vending Machines

Bill acceptors were developed in the late 1960’s to make the selling sodas and candy bars from the vending machine much easier. They would accept the money that the customer has placed in the machine, for the purchase of product. Bill acceptors are used in vending machines such as those provided by Antares Corporation. The first generation of machines used a magnetic head, like those in audio cassette player, to read the ink on the dollar bill. The ink used by the Treasury has high ink content so it makes this process possible. For the process to work the magnet heads need to be in contact with the bills. At times the bills would become fouled with grime and lint. As recently as seven years ago, some people would try to fool vending machines with black and white photocopy of a bill. These days newer magnetic readers float above the surface of the bill and can distinguish between copier ink and treasury ink by measuring the magnetic field and the pattern of magnetic particles within the ink, which serves as a sort of fingerprint. All vending machines, including Antares machines all use these bill acceptors. There are some problems that your Antares vending machine can face with the bill acceptor, so it’s important that you keep a check on that. The most major problem is poor acceptance. This is because the magnetic reader heads become worn and are unable to read the bills. You can prevent this problem with your Antares vending machine by keeping the bill acceptor clean using Qtips and alcohol. If the bill acceptor is taken in bills without returning change that means that the magnetic heads are so worn that you will have to send in the bill acceptor for servicing. If the acceptor is not pulling in bills, that is caused by a bad front sensor. As an Antares vending operator you need to take care of the maintenance of your bill acceptor because every time a bill passes through the transport it leaves a trace of ink. A coin leaves a trail of metal flakes. For these reasons you should periodically disassemble and clean the validator, paying particular attention to the bill path, sensors and belts. Inspect the belts for any deterioration and damage. By keeping a check on the functioning of your Antares vending machine’s validator, you can be assured of smooth running of the device.

Big Business For You!

Get Rich Quick Scams Revealed
Read this article before you consider paying for a "get rich quick" program.
From: http://swasdm.paidtoshop.hop.clickbank.net
Everybody would love to make lots of money quickly, working from home, and only doing a few hours of work per week. I've spent the past two years trying to find a great way of doing this. Only over the course of the past few months have I found any "get rich quick" programs worth buying. I've been trying to make money online for a long time. I had a few small websites, but they never made much more than a few hundred per month. It was easy money and didn't require much work on my part, but I knew there were people out there doing better than I was and I knew I could do as well as them.
Now, I've seen a lot of "get rich quick" programs. Most of these people make claims about earning $2000/day with Google or something similarly insane. Almost all of these people are complete liars. Even if they were making $2000/day with Google AdSense, it'd be because they had high- traffic websites with a lot of quality content. I'd know, because in one whole month, I never even made half of what they promised I'd make daily with their programs. Maybe you've already been scammed by one of these fraudsters. Anyway, I finally got sick of what was being offered.
I decided I'd look through the all of the "get rich quick" programs I could find and see if there were any that were actually legitimate. I found that there were owners selling their programs for well over $100, but the information in them could be found almost anywhere online for free. Additionally, they all contained out-of-date information, had no e-mail support, no money back guarantees, and broken links in the downloads section.
In conclusion, almost all of the programs I found were completely useless. The owners knew it, but they couldn't care less about their customers since they didn't offer refund policies! Amazingly, while looking through all of the programs, I actually did find a few legitimate programs. They were run by ordinary people like you and me, and they had found some great methods of making money from their home by doing very little work.
I spent some time working with those programs, and my income is now ten times what it used to be. These programs provided a large amount of great information on how to make extra money on your computer doing very little work. Numerous customers had provided great feedback and reviews for their products. Many of them have started to make money just days after buying!
Their programs have excellent prices, and the authors have a group of paid staff who are dedicating to helping you or providing assistance if you need any. I must say I was amazed! If you do decide to purchase any of the programs listed below, I recommend you join quickly. Most of the owners tell me they are getting an overwhelming number of sales and plan on raising prices in the near future, so order while prices are still low!
To Your Online Success,

Better late than never?

Have you ever sat back and wondered about the corporate decisions made by the executives at Microsoft? Well, I certainly have. It never ceases to amaze me how utterly clueless these people are. The blogosphere has been ablaze this week, with the news that Microsoft is entering the portable MP3 player market. One pundit or another is claiming that the new Microsoft Zune will be the ultimate iPod killer. On the other hand, there are a number of us that have serious doubts about Microsoft's ability to penetrate a market that is already saturated with their competitor's products.

However, one cannot help but wonder why they have waited this long. Apple has been playing in this space for years now, as have dozens of other companies in the consumer electronics industry. I can see the logic behind a wait-and-see approach, but this is a sad case of too little, too late for Microsoft. With the intellectual resources and working capital that Microsoft possesses, I am continually astounded by their lack of initiative in certain market spaces.

So why is a company that is an obvious titan in their chosen industry, so afraid to take chances? Is Bill Gates so preoccupied with his philanthropic work that he has allowed his company to drift off into the sea of irrelevance? When they are making moves, like their recent announcement of the upcoming Zune MP3 player, I seriously have to wonder what they have been doing for the last five years.

I realize that Microsoft has an unlimited marketing budget, but do they honestly think that they have any chance of penetrating the market that Apple so obviously dominates? Perhaps they have developed a novel way to turn back time, but in my humble opinion this may well be a complete waste of time.

For all the naysayers out there, I am aware that the Zune project is comprised of a number of strategic initiatives for Microsoft. Yes, the MP3 player is but one element of a larger corporate strategy in play here. Honestly, I wish Microsoft the best of luck in these new endeavors. Hopefully, they will release a product that will give Apple the motivation to develop their next-generation handheld gadget. AppleBerry, anyone? In this industry, competition drives innovation. Microsoft certainly is competitive, but have they ever been truly innovative? Time will tell. Unless, of course, Bill has found a way to turn back time. Now that would be innovative! You heard it here first, kids.

Beta in the Context of the Capital Asset Pricing Model

The economic model used for securities valuation and stocks are a part of the Capital Asset Pricing Model in terms of the expected return and comparative risk. According to the login which is fundamental for CAPM, shareholders are willing to take on extra risk only in case of additional expected return. As a result, the price for stock is negotiated of the free of risk security added to the risk premium which results from additional risk.

Formula of CAPM is Probable Security Return = Free of Risk Return + Beta * Probable Promote Risk Premium, Beta in this formula is the general risk which results from savings in a large market, for example, New York Stock Exchange.

In case of CAPM, Beta can receive a definition of the stock instability of a certain investment selection in relation to the economy. According to the definition, Beta of a market is 1.0, where separate stocks are assessed against the Beta’s market value. Risks which are associated with savings rise with Beta and, the other way, reduce if investment is not as risky. Beta, as the significant element of CAPM, expands proportionately with the price of funds discount rate, while the reduction rate is depressingly related with the current value of upcoming cash flows. That’s why, Beta is the main element in valuation of the company.

Beta coefficient is resulting from the analysis of linear regression. Beta coefficient is estimated from the income of a portfolio during a specific period of time and the profits from distinct asset during a particular period of time. The drop line consequent is referred to like the Security Characteristic Line. Betas are usually calculated by deep-rooted brokerage companies that are later published in a book of beta. It must be noted, that admission to such book if oftentimes limited to usual investors. Nevertheless, other online sources like Yahoo Finance as well have beta coefficients published and calculated. The value of Beta of 0.00 means that the stock is fresh and has no historic performance.

Beste Restaurants in Tel Aviv

Hier also nur sechs Beispiele!

Birnbaum & Mendelbaum
Birnbaum & Mendelbaum ist ein Familie Restaurants, klein und gemütlich, mit wunderbaren hausgemachten vegetarischen Speisen. Das Besondere bei Birnbaum ist, dass es sich um ein "All you can eat" Buffet handelt!

Dr. Schakschuka

Best Ways to Choose a Credit Card Processing Company

Best Ways to Choose a Credit Card Processing Company

One of the most critical decisions for launching an online business is deciding on which credit card processor to use and how you will choose to process your customer's payments. There are two primary methods to choose from: You can use a true merchant account and do it yourself or you can use what is known as a third-party processor. The credit card processor method you select can possibly effect the execution of your entire Website.

Probably the best way to choose a credit card processor is by simply listing your needs and then comparing the various available plans. Will cost be the most important element and what other factors will be involved? Try comparing both a true merchant account to third-party credit card processors side by side.

How is a true merchant account different from a third party credit card processor?

True Merchant Credit Card Processors

With a true merchant account, you are the merchant and you have the option of applying directly through a bank. However, this is often done through a sales agent. The account will be dedicated to your business only. You, as the merchant will have total control over the account and be totally responsible for it in everyway. You will have to provide a gateway for the account because this will not be included in the account.
Note: Some companies that offer credit card processor plans will extend a bundle that includes a gateway as an enticement. You are free to choose any gateway you prefer since they are totally separate entities.

Basically, your merchant account for a credit card processor is a direct account with MasterCard, Discover Card and American Express. If you resolve to accept payments from their members, you must abide strictly by their rules.

Third-Party Credit Card Processors

A third-party credit card processor company has it's own merchant account and they allow individuals and businesses to accept credit card payments through them. A third-party credit card processing company has all of the power since they make the rules, which you must adhere to since they are allowing you to share their merchant account.

When should you consider using a third-party credit card processing company?
-If your business isn't registered
-If you have been blacklisted
-If you or your mechanize is considered high risk
-If you have poor credit or no credit
-If you only process a small amount of transactions
If you are a non-programmer and can't carry out a complex API.

Additional considerations concerning third-party credit card processing
1. They will not charge higher rates for high risk businesses
2. They don't perform credit checks
3. They can't be used with a separate gateway
4. Their name appears on your customer's credit card statements
5. It can take up to a month to receive deposited funds.
6. You can't negotiate rates for third-party credit card processing.

Most reputable online merchants understand they will be accepting credit cards online and that they will need a merchant account and a payment gateway. There are good reasons for assuming this:
-If there are large volumes of transactions to be processed, the discount rate will be far superior with a true merchant account than with a third-party credit processing company.
-The merchant will have 100% control over the account. The merchant can deal directly with customers and it's the merchant's name that appears on the customer's credit card statement.
-Transparent checkout feature - Allows the customer transaction to be processed directly on the Merchant's Website, rather than being redirected to a third party site.
-Portrays a more professional image - A true merchant account is a more seamless process which is expected from customers.

When you apply for a true merchant account, you will have to go through a full credit check and you may not use the account in anyway for your own personal use. The rates are always negotiable but high-risk products will garner much higher rates. You may use a separate gateway of your choice for credit card processing and your business name will always appear on the customer's statement. Funds will be deposited within 1-3 days and you may be locked into a contract for several years.

Most online businesses that are just starting out have small margins and tight budgets. Cost will be the single most important factor in choosing a credit card processing company for most of them. The needs of each business will vary, as will the offers they receive for credit card processing. In making a comparison, it's almost like comparing oranges and oranges and can be quite difficult. One way to approach the comparison process is to collect the data on fees associated with both third party and a true merchant account first.
-Setup fee: how much you need to pay to establish the account
-Discount rate: the percentage of sales that the processor takes
-Transaction fee: the flat fee the processor charges for each transaction
-Monthly fee: the monthly fee associated with keeping the account active
-Setup fee: the cost to set up a gateway
-Gateway monthly fee: the monthly fee charged by the gateway provider for use of their payment gateway services

Next, list the number of transactions you will make each month and how much the average customer will spend on your Website. There is a multitude of third-party processors and true merchant providers for credit card processing that may be compared. For example, Papal and Verisign are two well known companies, but are completely different.

Conclusion

You may ultimately use both of these methods to use credit card processing online but the way in which they are implemented are very different. Each has it's own particular advantages. Since every business is different, you must consider all of the factors involved with accepting credit cards online, not just the costs. Sometimes, paying a few additional costs in fees can enhance your customers experience and the overall appearance of your Website. Take ample time to explore all of your options in order to find the best cost-effective credit card processing company that fills the needs of your online business.

Best price endowment selling process and the future of TEPs

The traded endowment market exists because over 100,000 people each year decide to sell endowment policy or surrender endowment.

Most endowment life insurance policies were originally taken out for 25 years, but the majority of policyholders never wait until maturity for cashing in endowment and surrender them. In many cases, the endowment policy surrender values offered by insurance companies are less than the market value. In addition, investors are keen to buy traded endowment policies as part of their investment portfolios. The market exists because there are people willing to endowment cash in and people wanting to buy them for investment purposes.

In 2003, the government estimated that about eight in ten of the endowment policies then in force were unlikely to pay off the mortgages they were taken out for. Since then, nearly 70% of those facing a shortfall have re-mortgaged, sought financial advice or applied for compensation. However, about 700,000 people had still done nothing about their endowment shortfall. The general rule is that, people must complain within three years of receiving their first "red letter" - outlining a likely shortfall - from their insurance company or lender. Under industry rules, insurers are allowed to ignore complaints made after the time bar comes into play. Specialists say that, ‘2013 will be the peak year for endowments reaching maturity’. Nevertheless, endowment life insurance policyholders now can imagine the future awaiting them and selling endowment policies on time is the best option ahead.

The endowment policy selling process starts when the owner contacts with the TEP brokers. The details are forwarded to the trader who will endeavor to beat the current endowment surrender value. This service is completely free of charge and there is no obligation if you log on to www.bestpriceendowment.com.

Every offer made by Best Price, to sell your endowments, will be higher than the current endowment surrender value offered by the respective life office. If you decide to accept the offer, you simply need to complete the acceptance form and return it to them.

After receiving your offer acceptance letter, they approach the life office to clarify the policy details. The endowment policy buyer then looks to place the policy into a portfolio with other policies. There can be anywhere between 5 and 300 policies in a single portfolio. As soon as the endowment policy is reserved into a portfolio, they will look to complete the sale as soon as possible. The Endowment selling process is as simple and secured as that if you contact an F.S.A (Financial Services Authority) authorized and regulated organisation like Integrity Financial Solutions Ltd.

For further details or selling endowment, one may contact Integrity Financial Services. Phone: 08701 287 330/1/3

Best Merchant Services

A High-risk merchant account is a merchant account service provided to internet merchants that have been declared "high-risk" by Visa and MasterCard. This is owing to the nature of their businesses, that have a high credit rate or a high turnover but also, an increased risk of fraud and chargebacks.

Characteristically, it's very hard for high risk and non-US businesses to obtain a merchant account. High risk merchant accounts offered by different service providers allow International Merchants to privately process their credit card transactions and have the proceeds sent to an offshore bank account. The fees are higher for offshore/high risk credit card processing.

Credit card processors are likely to reject you if your business is considered high-risk. The aim is to locate a credit card processor that gets you approved and has you up and accepting credit cards quickly and efficiently, with either a high risk merchant account or an international merchant account.

Examples of high risk merchant accounts include pharmaceuticals, telemarketing, infomercials, travel industries, online dating, replica, gaming etc. Some of these are considered more high risk than others.

High risk merchant accounts are available with international banks. A merchant has to do the following to obtain a direct account if their merchant account is considered high risk:

1. Incorporated in the bank’s jurisdictions (this requirement is based on credit card operating regulations)
2. Have 6 months of existing processing history (preferable the last 6 months)
3. Chargebacks in the last 6 months must be less than 1 %.
4. Pay the required set up fees
5. Provide principal’s passport, business incorporation documents - some jurisdictions require a local nominee director’s passport and a utility bill of the nominee director. This is done to avoid cross border issues.
6. The merchant website has to be in compliance to Visa and MasterCard requirements

These merchant accounts can also be classified as offshore high risk merchant accounts, international merchant accounts, and high volume merchant accounts.

The other option if you do not have processing history and you do not want pay the expensive of incorporation in the bank’s jurisdiction, you can always get a third party merchant account. A third party merchant account’s underwriting is less stringent and is set up much faster than a direct account.

Benefits of Online : Top Reasons to Online

The online gambling industry is the most profitable industry on the internet. Millions of people around the world are wagering on sports online, playing online poker, bingo and even the lottery online at any of the thousands of gambling sites available on the net. Even people who have never visited a land based casino or a local bookie are finding themselves visiting online casinos and poker rooms on a regular basis.

So, what makes gambling on the internet so appealing? Yes, you can play any game of your choice without having to leave your favorite chair. Still, you will not be served free drinks; you will not be able to watch the game you have wagered on from big TV screens; you can neither see the facial expressions of your poker opponents nor to hear the sounds of the coins fall from the slot machine when you hit the big jackpot…

Here are the benefits of gambling online comparing to traditional gambling:
Diversity: how else can you jump from an online poker room to the craps table and to a bingo hall while staying seated on your most comfortable chair? Most online casinos feature a large variety of casino table games, slots and video poker machines. Moreover, in many major online gambling companies you can switch from online casino gambling to online sports wagering with the same username and account.

Bonuses: where else can you receive free money to gamble with? Most online casinos offer free money bonuses in order to entice new customers and to keep up with the competition. The bonuses can start from 10 dollars free just for downloading the casino software to a couple of thousand dollars for completing a certain required amount of raked hands

Convenience: obliviously, what can be more convenient than playing your favorite casino game in the comfort of your own home while listening to your favorite music and drinking your favorite beer? Not to mention being able to put your dealer on hold each time up you want to take a break

Smoking and Dress Codes: whether you are a smoker or a non smoker, when you are gambling online you are free from obeying the rules. Same goes for dressing, eating and drinking; you can either smoke non stop or remain in a non smoking environment; wear your sloppiest clothes or stay naked; eat, drink, talk on the phone, watch TV, whatever

Atmosphere: when you are gambling online, there are not any cocktail waitresses who will sedate you with free drinks and distract you from beating the dealer. In addition, you can set an atmosphere of your choice that can include clocks or even a source of day light

Beginner Friendly: a land based casino can be an intimidating place for the newbie gambler. The average online casino, on the other hand, is much more beginner friendly than its brick and mortar equivalent. Interactive tutorials, play money modes and the option of avoiding social embarrassment caused by misunderstanding of the rules and codes of behavior is a more pleasant welcome for the novice casino gamer or poker player

Safety: yes, gambling online is usually safer than playing in a land based casino and carrying big amounts of cash money in your pocket. Most online casinos are reliable and respectable businesses that will not risk their reputation and lose their customers base by scamming their players

In addition to the list of benefits mentioned above, online gambling offers equal opportunity for people with disabilities or those who cannot afford traveling out of their state to play in a legal land based casino.

However, reading about the benefits of online gambling makes the huge popularity of online gambling, online poker playing and online sports wagering much easier to understand.

Benefits Of Lamination Services

Lamination services are available in many office supply stores or print shops. Laminating is an art and if you don’t know how to do it, you can easily ruin your project. The price you will pay is relatively small, considering the damage that can be done by improper lamination. A professional will know which type of lamination is right for your particular project.

Applying laminate to objects increases and extends the life of the document. This is typically done on maps, art, news articles, posters, photographs, reports and a wide range of other documents. The process covers the document with a thin plastic covering that protects it from moisture, tears and wear.

The equipment used in laminating documents can be quite expensive, particularly for wide format projects. Unless you have a need for extensive laminating, the equipment will be cost prohibitive. It is much cheaper to hire a service for less frequent lamination needs. Another option is to purchase a machine for small jobs and send larger projects out to be professionally laminated.

Often, printed materials will need to be protected. This is especially true for water based inks. These images will be destroyed if they come in contact with water. Moisture and excessive humidity in the air can cause the same problem. A laminate film over the project will prevent these problems and your document will last for years.

Options in Lamination Services

When you contact a professional, you will find that you have several choices in laminating your project. The first decision you will need to make is in the finish you want on the project. The most common finishes available are high gloss, semi gloss, satin or crystal finishes. The higher the gloss, the stronger and more durable the finish. However, the project will also have a shiny look. If you don’t want the high shine, consider a satin or crystal finish for your document. The professional performing the service can make suggestions that will help you make a decision.

You have two choices for the edges of your document. Many finished products have a small laminated edge on all four sides of the document. This edge is usually about 1/8” on all sides. If you don’t want this clear edge, you can request edge to edge lamination. This method leaves no overhand. The laminate ends at the edge of the document.

Another choice is in the mounting of the document. You may decide to have the image mounted prior to being laminated. This is a great choice for posters, photographs or art work. Projects of any size can be mounted, from small photographs, to large poster sized art work.

Cost of Lamination Services

The cost of the service can vary widely. Some shops charge by the piece and others by the foot. In general, smaller jobs are charged by the sheet. Larger items, such as wide format laminating, are charged by the finished linear foot.

The thickness of the item being laminated also affects the price. In most shops, the thickness can vary from three to seven ml. The thickness of the document, the mounting or both will affect the total thickness of the project. In general, the thicker the item, the more expensive the lamination.

Extra services, such as mounting or binding will add to the total cost of the project. Many shops offer binding the pages of your project into books. This is often done for business reports or booklets for business meetings or conferences. Binding gives your project a more professional look that will give people a good impression of you and your business.
